Art wall coffee table

My husband is an artist and I just finished this art wall. He is also a woodworker and he made the coffee table. The table is currently naked wood. Any suggestions on what I should stain or paint it with?

Beautiful art wall and table! I'd suggest a medium honey-colored stain. Given the likely heavy usage, the table top is one of the few places I'd suggest a polyurethane finish. Legs can be finished with e.g. tung oil as it is very easy to use and should be OK in the lower use area.

My first thought is a a warm walnut stain. Then many coats of poly, sanded in between each to showcase the beauty of the wood.

Go with the leather that is a shade lighter that the floors. Otherwise it could get lost in blur of grey. Use accent colors in the lamp shades,wall art and throws. I also like the white table better. The metal table is more industrial. Than the style you are going for.

I would get rid of that pendant. Here's one link to industrial pendant lights http://www.houzz.com/industrial-pendants Pick a light that you like and show it to your landlord. I bet she/he will say yes to your suggestion since pendant lights can easily be changed. In fact, if there's already a really secure junction box there already i bet they may even go with a ceiling fan light combo if that's what you really want

Hi Rachel, This is quite easy to fix. Firstly I would brighten the space up with a white paint such as Nippon Violet Whispers (warm white), this will give you a good base to work from. Then I would replace your table with one that is larger. This table is too small to be useful and is making your entrance feel small. I recommend using teak and keeping this console table simple in design. On the wall I would place artwork - the bigger the better as this will make a dramatic statement. Then add some lighting (table lamp on console table) and decorative items and voila your entrance will be instantly chic! I have mocked up two options for you - one is based on blues, the other pinks, so depending on your preference you can go either way. Yeah, I'm another vote for dark, both to help it hold its own against the rug, and top pick up the dark tones in many of the picture frames. Neat space -- worthy of the Barnes! :)
