Ever had renovator's remorse?

What do you wish you had done or not done when you renovated your home? Some of my friends say they wish they'd worked with an interior designer from the very beginning, rather than manage their renovations themselves.

    I haven't had renovator's remorse, but my friend's parent did. He wasn't happy with the size of the loungeroom and figured that because he had 'some' experience with removing walls, it'd be easy as pie. It wasn't.
