What colour did you use for a roof, trim and columns?

Would you mind if I ask what colour did you use for a room, windows trim and columns? I am building a farm house and although it is a very traditional frame, I am looking into similar colour scheme and incorporating some sandstone and wooden window frames. Cheers, Anna

Metal cladding is colorbond "Jasper". Window trims powdercoated "Jasper" and steel columns are powdercoated colorbond "Monument"

I agree with Carolyn - a new coat of paint can make a world of difference. There's really not too much about the house that 'screams' a certain decade - so you're luckier than lots of us. I hate that teracotta colour on the gable ends personally, and I think that would be good to paint out. I would consider painting al the bits that are currently white a darker more serious colour (grey, taupe etc) and then paint the trim and the entry ceiling white. Also consider painting the roof - as it is a big element and teracotta tile colour doesn't always work with your colour scheme. If you want to make some more permanent changes, you could consider filling in the gable roof lines so they become box gables - and I agree with Carolyn that the entrance roof looks like it is missing a column on the left side.

How can I hide an existing column in the kitchen

You could use the column for something useful like hanging utensils or cooking tools if you have the height or a towel rack or if you want to just hide it you could put fairy lights on/around it to give a homely feel.my personal opinion would be if there is a ledge you should get some vintage alcohol bottles and put them there as decoration and it works nice in most households.if no ledge just get a wine rack and screw it to the column

I very much agree with what Beverly said regarding adding shutters to your home. You don't have the space on either side of the windows to accommodate appropriately sized shutters. Awnings would definitely be an option. Since you're in the Caribbean, you can add color by using a brightly striped awning. One shutter option that you could consider would be a Bahama Shutter. Since they mount at the top of the windows, you wouldn't have any problem adding them if you like.
