Need Help with Basil Plant

Hi guys, rainy season now and my basil plant is constantly under attack by caterpillars. It's very hard to spot them and remove them one by one on the plant. Also don't want to use insecticide as I use the basil for cooking. Any suggestions?

Hi Lisa, it seems like you either have to cover your basil plants with an insect net / flywire to prevent the butterflies from laying eggs on them. Else I read that buying some human friendly pesticide: Bacillus thuringiensis More info here: http://www.bt.ucsd.edu/

I like large, abstract, colorful art placed at the top of stairs above narrow windows. https://www.houzz.com/photos/94th-street-townhouse-modern-staircase-new-york-phvw-vp~1326739 I like a small terrace to look good from the inside. Thanks for your comments, its great to discuss with houzers! You are so right @decoenthusiaste the view is beautiful and one reason why I chose the apartment. the room is longer than it is wide, and I wanted the kitchen/bar to be included in the seating so the attached pic is how I was planning to lay it out. @cdrdesign I can't/change the table, its a gorgeous mahogany piece I had custom made and one I see keeping for some years yet! I dont plan a TV in this room, will put it in another room. This room in for living and entertaining guests. Sorry I dont have layout software, so you will have to make do with my scribbles using powerpoint! Could really do with help on choosing the light fitting in place of the central fan- what would look nice here or should I wait till the furniture gets here to choose the light to match?

I would get rid of that pendant. Here's one link to industrial pendant lights http://www.houzz.com/industrial-pendants Pick a light that you like and show it to your landlord. I bet she/he will say yes to your suggestion since pendant lights can easily be changed. In fact, if there's already a really secure junction box there already i bet they may even go with a ceiling fan light combo if that's what you really want

Hi there! if you're looking for plants that can withstand minimal watering, you can go for succulents (as mentioned by Rachel ;)), pothos (aka money plant), chinese evergreen, cast-iron plants, zz plant or even snake plant. Air plants are also known to be able to thrive with little watering ;) Hope this helps ;)
