Your second photo brings me right to the stairwell scene in Hitchcock's "Vertigo," although I realize I'm looking up, not down. It's really rather wonderful. I'm just wondering, looking to the upper left in particular, if it's been recently checked out by a structural engineer. As for paint, I'll be interested to see what others say. For me, who doesn't do a lot of white, I think I actually would stay with a white here. A muddy green might be nice as well, but you'd need to incorporate a bit of lighting -- perhaps uplighting along the beams unseen from below, with something amazing hanging from that cool, crazy peak you have. Where do you store medicine?

I usually store it in the kitchen. I tend to imagine the germs the goes around the bathroom and I wouldn't want germs on any medications/first aid etc to be around that. Also, the bathroom has too much moisture to be keeping medications.

How far can the refrigerator stick out from a standard counter top?

Do you have enough height to put in a counter depth refrigerator that may be taller than usual? That way you can have added fridge storage going up. Or you can do a smaller refrigerator and buy a separate freezer for the basement.

Money plants are super easy to maintain! I've had mine for the past 7 months since moving in to our new flat and it is growing wildly around its 1.5m pole with minimal care. Cacti don't need much attention as well and make for nice decorative plants especially in toilets where you might not get much sunlight. The air plant in your second picture was actually being sold at my neighbourhood pasar malam and I was very close to getting it (apparently it only needs occasional spraying of water) but it wasn't quite my style and I went for a different plant that I'm still trying to figure out the name of. :)
