Sideboard?

Hi there, lovely space! Is that sideboard unit below the windows an off-the-shelf product or a bespoke unit that you designed? If it is off the shelf would you mind letting us know who made it?

Hi James,

Thank you for your interest.

The credenza is a custom piece,
designed by us.

The basic unit is 585 high and
550mm deep for the Corian surround with timber veneer doors in this picture,
and 550mm high and 450 deep for the timber veneer surround with polyurethane
doors.

If you let me know the
length/finish you are after, I can provide you with a quote and lead time.

There are also options for the
internal storage - drawers or open shelves behind the sliding doors and an
option of an open bay for a sub-woofer.

David - Thanks! Appreciate that you even drew out the plan. :) You are absolutely right, it's been difficult finding an optimum layout. In fact, our current layout is more or less the same as your plan. Would you have chosen different furniture - a smaller sofa or a different dining table perhaps? (Also, I'm curious: is there a good reason why the architect had the pillar like that?) Mona - Do you mean having a buffet at the entry? I currently do have a sideboard, though it wouldn't fit at the entry - it's about 67" wide by 18" deep. It's currently placed in the middle of the long wall. There's actually still sufficient clearance between it and the 3-seater sofa in David's plan. plague - The household shelter is a local (Singapore) building requirement. Its walls are reinforced and is meant to be a shelter in times of emergency. It can't be removed, and any renovations carried out cannot affect its integrity (there is a list of permitted and prohibited works). Normally it is just used as a pantry or storeroom.

maybe a high upholstered banquette directly across from the kitchen? It will create a nice definition of space and can fell very luxurious. A banquette is also a great space saver. and often seats more people than a standard chair at a table If you use a long pedestal table you can slide it under the seat of the banquette when not in use. That leaves a wider path for you to get to the living room area by the windows.

Depending on budget, a glass guard that cascades past the dining room level would feel very modern. The attached image isn't the same condition but should give a good idea on the detail.
