Furniture Living Room Design Dilemma

living room layout ideas

i’ve been wracking my brains trying to figure out what’s the best configuration for my living/dining room. it’s a small space but we hope to be able to place a tv console, a sofa as well as a rectangular dining table that can also double as a work bench.

any ideas?

Dear Nicholas, firstly when will you be collect your house key for your BTO Flat. Are you looking for interior Designer or Contractor to renovate your house. Before that ask yourself, whether is the house you collecting, is it a standard or Premium flat?. How much Budget are you intending to spend on your house renovation. You have all these answer, I can give you some advise

Q1: as for your sofa, how many seater sofa would you be intending to getting for your new house?.
Q2: are you okay, if we do a half-wall TV Console?.
Q3: How many seater of Dining Table are you intending to be getting & do you want to have excessive walking space around the area?.

Very small space indeed. you really need to be careful on the sizes of your furnitures as every inch is important to make this work comfortably. You can have a console or have the wall designed with some shelf and cabinets for storage. I’m seeing a long sofa and dining table with bench seat arrangement would be best

I was hoping to see a photo because I thought maybe there are other options than curtain dividers. If you say that the space is not that big, I think it should not be closed with curtain dividers. It could stay open but separated with a sofa table with a vase or a lamp.

HI -- Great windows !! Full white drapes right across the whole window wall , full length ceiling to floor and wall to wall . Long low 3 or 4 seat sofa or square sectional in white (leather or fabric ?) and a swivel chair or two in black (leather or fabric ?) Have the sofa and chair-s in either material just not both the same . A long reclaimed /distressed wood dining room table -- you need the wood for a bit of warmth in the room. Modern white and chrome chairs and maybe two funky statement chairs for each end of the table.Too cold and flat looking to have total black and white. An area rug for living room area -no rug under dining room table. The area rug could be one with a salt and pepper texture or a chevron pattern or similar . Then silver accents as in side table bases with glass tops and lamps . Then some big colorful modern art.

Thanks for your comments, its great to discuss with houzers! You are so right @decoenthusiaste the view is beautiful and one reason why I chose the apartment. the room is longer than it is wide, and I wanted the kitchen/bar to be included in the seating so the attached pic is how I was planning to lay it out. @cdrdesign I can't/change the table, its a gorgeous mahogany piece I had custom made and one I see keeping for some years yet! I dont plan a TV in this room, will put it in another room. This room in for living and entertaining guests. Sorry I dont have layout software, so you will have to make do with my scribbles using powerpoint! Could really do with help on choosing the light fitting in place of the central fan- what would look nice here or should I wait till the furniture gets here to choose the light to match?

Hi Charlie, Hope these two suggestions work. The first one is similar to your initial idea, I just changed the orientation of your sofa and TV console. I suggest a modular sofa where you could make it L-shaped or two separate love seats whenever you like. Where you put your island looks like a good place; least amount of reno/hacking! PS I used Sketch's sticker functions to put in the furniture.
