Soothing bedroom...color suggestions please
Comments (10)Just wondering what is the current wall color? Looks lavender. I'm not a fan of accent walls in a bedroom. To me a bedroom should be relaxing and varying wall colors seem stimulating by their very nature (think they're great in other rooms though). But if you want to do one, I would do as you suggested, the wall where your headboard is located. Figure out what you want to keep (sounds like the headboard and the red chair are definitely staying), then work around that. I think cool greys are very pretty and a wonderful neutral that work would work well with your headboard and chair. Then you could bring in the other colors you like through bedding and artwork. If storage is an issue, can you get some bins on wheels for beneath your bed? Also can you consolidate all those smaller tables and get one larger table/storage piece in its place? I would check out IKEA if it's in your budget. Also given the size of your bedroom, if possible I would go with simple curtains that are the same color as your walls. Good luck!...See MoreWhat should I do with this boring entrance?
Comments (9)Hi Rachel, This is quite easy to fix. Firstly I would brighten the space up with a white paint such as Nippon Violet Whispers (warm white), this will give you a good base to work from. Then I would replace your table with one that is larger. This table is too small to be useful and is making your entrance feel small. I recommend using teak and keeping this console table simple in design. On the wall I would place artwork - the bigger the better as this will make a dramatic statement. Then add some lighting (table lamp on console table) and decorative items and voila your entrance will be instantly chic! I have mocked up two options for you - one is based on blues, the other pinks, so depending on your preference you can go either way. This is the blue version with hints of tropical This is the pink version. Comments (9)Hi Amuro Elaine, Are you working with an interior designer to renovate your home? You'll probably be asked a few questions such as: How many people will live here? Is the bedroom wall a structural, load-bearing wall? Do you intend to entertain? But what an interesting space you have, and especially if you are living alone, there's so much potential to transforming it into your own pretty pad! If I were you, I would swap the living space with the bedroom, that means hacking the bedroom wall open, and then erecting a wall from that point where your kitchen wall ends. Have the wall in glass, with sliding glass doors, so that you can open it up when you have guests over. And when you're alone, you'll be able to enjoy the entire length of the apartment from your bed. Here's a photo of the wall idea:Keep us posted on the progress of your renovation, please :)...See MoreNeed help designing my corridor
