I love the transformation of the fire place. Is the wood wrapped around the existing fire place, or was the original knocked down. Is this a double sided fire place.

Hi kittyh...thanks for the inquiry...the original fireplace was in this location...the Walnut Wood continues around to the other side which is the main entrance to the home. We were able to create a coat closet on the back side of the left media cabinetry you see in this photo.

Did you remove the original fire place. I really like everything you have done to this home. I live in a 60's ranch and it is time for a redo. I want to stay as true as I can to what it is, but still open it up. I have a HUGE rock 3 sided fire place. I don't mind it but Hubby hates it. I was wondering if covering with custom wood could be an answer!

If you've got the space to build in front of the rock face it could work...this fireplace was actually an entirely different shape so we re-built it :-) A masonry specialist was able to cut a larger rectangular opening... then we framed over the brick to apply the Wood paneling and Quartz hearth and surround...Good luck with your project...a 60's ranch is a Gem ! sj
