Blocking noise without doubled glazed window

Hi,

My apartment is by the road and I’m concerned about the noise generated from the traffic. Any suggestion on how to better block the noise from the outside apart from double glazed window as that would be too bulky and eat into the small bedroom space. Thank you!

    How about thick (rubber-backed) curtains on the inside of the window?
