What is a good furniture layout for this awkward open living room?
Comments (2)Hello Cody, If the TV isn't going on the mantle wall than the only other available wall is the 13'5" wall. You might think about moving the TV to this wall and balancing it with art or plants. Your sofa can be turned with its back to the entrance/stairs and a small console table can be placed behind it to act as a visual stop. Your chair can be placed where the sofa currently sits or you could add a pair of new chairs to this area near the stair alcove which would create a smaller seating cluster there. Small benches could be placed in front of the fire for additional seating, when and if necessary. This one is a challenge, but if you don't mind the TV as focal point and the sofa perpendicular to the fireplace, this could work. Comments (8)Hi Charlie, Hope these two suggestions work. The first one is similar to your initial idea, I just changed the orientation of your sofa and TV console. I suggest a modular sofa where you could make it L-shaped or two separate love seats whenever you like. Where you put your island looks like a good place; least amount of reno/hacking! PS I used Sketch's sticker functions to put in the furniture....See MoreNeed help for Living and Dining Layout Design.

Comments (6)Well, open or close depend on your lifestyle. Do you like entertaining guests or whole family gathering around while you are cooking? If yes do an open kitchen with island. Bringing kichen, dining, living space together into one big room will make your home feel much bigger, airier, lighter. Or do you worry about privacy and the heat, smell? Try to search here open kitchen with island or in google images....See MoreHotelAC
