LOST - color and look match
Comments (3)I would reupholster the rosewood furniture in natural canvas or a natural linen look . Ask the upholsterer to do the job with NO welting. That will make it look more contemporary. Then stop by West Elm, Pottery Barn, or Crate & Barrel for some brightly colored pillows. I'm thinking coral might work well with your tile, but you be the judge of what color works best with it. For now we'll assume it's coral. So I'd like to see one wall painted coral if you're so inclined. Otherwise, I'd leave the walls white. Next, let's cover some of that tile you don't like. Two choice: 1. A rug you'll take with you. Perhaps a shaggy offwhite one. 2. A rug you'll leave in your rental. This could be a large piece of carpeting, cut and bound like a rug. Measure for size before going to the carpet store. Most carpeting is 12' wide, so figure on making a rug 12 x something so that there is no waste, or you could make a couple of 6 x somethings. If you could change out the rosewood coffee table for another, I think you'd be happier with the furniture. It needs some variety. Even a couple of small tables from IKEA could work for 6 to 8 months....See MoreWhat's the advantage of cementing as flooring and how to ensure its no
Comments (3)I have stained concrete floors and not only do I love them... but 95% of everyone that walks in the door goes goo goo over them... Well, there was that one guest that waited a half hour before asking "So, when you do you think you'll be able to afford carpet?" .... So, this isn't a great pic, but you can see that we mixed black in and that there's a greenish border... Looking back, I would have done a different color had I given it more thought because it's a lot of work to change stained concrete... but painted concrete can be painted over and over... By the way...The lower level of my house is 1500 sq ft and I vacuum those concrete floors, all of them, in less than 15 minutes... I was 2 x's a year and including stripping the old wax, it only takes me about three hours! This shine when it's done is SO worth the 3 hours ......See MoreCurtain help, what sort of material and colour should I choose ?
Comments (7)What a great room! If you enjoy the general Monochromatic feel of your room I'd go with white or silver (see 'option2' photo) and let your accent pillows do the accenting! The blue hue on the wall actually simplifies your color options. Either pull that color in through a patterned application as mentioned above (see 'option1' photo) or just stick to silver/white. Comments (13)Look up Forbo Flooring. I think it comes out of Europe. Its a product with " green " credentials and whilst it is used extensively in hospitals and industrial centres it is extremely strong and hard wearing. I think with other good strong design elements in a room a vinyl floor can easily be pulled off as dynamic and urban. Used a lot in say Denmark and Sweden for example with product longevity in mind & positive if you are also environmentally conscious. I am currently looking at Forbo vinyl to be laid in our sunroom, utility room, pantry and entrance way as it is practical, easy to clean and with a great colour can provide a lot of impact. And whilst it can be hard to walk on & can be viewed sometimes as cold visually I think a rug/rugs can remedy this in the colder months. Vinyl & cork went out of fashion a couple of decades ago and they are now popular again for good reason. I hope this gives you confidence in your current ID :)...See MoreGriffin Designs
