Exterior Paint Help

We are having the exterior of our 1902 house painted. We plan to keep the body of the house the same color, but the previous owners had white, purple, blue, and gold all as accent/trim colors, and we think it could have a more cohesive look. Is the purple around the window trim a historically accurate place to put an accent color? What are your suggestions?
