Need help deciding cabinet colour

We are renovating our kitchen and have chosen grey oak effect cabinets mixed with a mussel colour matt (greyish cream) - all handless. Two dilemmas- should we go for the grey oak on top and in the tall units like in the attached design or change to oak in the bottom and island with lighter cabinets on top and in the tall bank? The bank of tall units is furthest from natural light and we're also worried they might be too imposing if dark? Also wondering if we should choose white as the lighter colour (as opposed to mussel) but afraid the contrast will be too much. Any thoughts from all you great houzzers?

Comments (1)Go with the leather that is a shade lighter that the floors. Otherwise it could get lost in blur of grey. Use accent colors in the lamp shades,wall art and throws. Comments (27)You already have your accent colour as your sofa pillows (log roll pillows). I would take one of them shopping with me to get a rug that has that colour in it. It doesn't need to be a lot of that colour (I love the idea of burgandy rug here...but it might be too much with your monotone scheme). Comments (5)Hi Mr Martini! Congratulations on the new BTO! Hiring a good interior designer will definitly help with designing your new home. And seeing that you are a family man, I imagine you would want as little hassle as possible. A good interior designer will listen to your ideas of how you want your home to look like, and make it happen as best as possible, taking into consideration your family's lifestyle, HDB limitations on renovation, your budget, etc. While my husband and I did hire an interior designer for our resale flat, I unfortunately will not recommended them for they gave us more headache than I felt necessary for the tiniest of problems. So do ask around and see if anyone can recommend a good interior designer. Back to your love for Scandinavian design! I was going for the Scandinavian style too only to later realise along the design process, that we were not loving the bland colours and minimalism and somehow, we managed to end up with a relaxing resort-themed home which we're loving. In fact, a recent Houzz article tells us that the Scandinavian colour palette is moving away from pale cool shades which I find fun and refreshing.
