Which color scheme for living room?

Hello,
We have bought a new house and plan to do the interior ourselves. Our walls are white and the floor is beautiful white marble too. So on whole the house is pretty white in its interiors. Since the living room is not so big, we want to keep it simple and lighter in tone i.e shades of white or light colors I think. Can you please help and advise what color schemes will best go with the plce??

P.s. We would like to keep 3x2 sofa and a dining table in the living room.. But don't know the colors of the sofa to go with and the upholstery to be used.. Thanks for your help!!
