What colour curtains for my living room?
Comments (13)I understand the look and would possibly compromise by bringing a white and brown striped curtain into play. This would add verticality and tie your wallpaper and white cabinet into the decor. When open you would have subtle brown and white stripes, and when closed a continuation of the wall pattern...See MoreClueless on rug color! Help me find my perfect rug!
Comments (27)You already have your accent colour as your sofa pillows (log roll pillows). I would take one of them shopping with me to get a rug that has that colour in it. It doesn't need to be a lot of that colour (I love the idea of burgandy rug here...but it might be too much with your monotone scheme). You can find a large rug that incorporates that red/raspberry in it so that you have a colour that is now your accent....See MoreAny suggestions for living room makeover?
Comments (1)HI Evan, I think you have answered your own question. A quick makeover usually involves acquiring some new furniture, change of curtains, fresh lick of paint or simply some new scatter cushions and a plant. It all depends on what you are looking for, how much you want to change and of course more importantly what your budget will allow. You could stretch the budget a little by perhaps painting only one wall and why not do it yourself and make it a little project and save money as well. Money that perhaps could be used for something else. Its not easy to give you an exact idea of a concept or budget unless we know what you want and would like from your space. Your existing pieces of furniture, curtains, art etc will play a huge part. That is if you decide to keep or change what you dont like? Is there some piece of furniture or art that you feel you need or want or would like? Browse through some magazines and scroll online for some great ideas. Gather some ideas and if you still are not certain then heed the help of a professional who might give you some ideas. Whether its a small makeover or a full on renovation, remember that every item adds up to your budget. So make certain of what you would like before you start. Hope that helps, if not give us a call and we would gladly come around for a cup of coffee....See MoreIdeas for new apartment please!
Comments (4)Hi joyce_jj_chen, lovely home! Sharing my 2 cents: I think you've got a great living/dining space with lots of potential. The sofas can be moved closer to the TV to make space for dining. While not exactly a matching for your floor plan, this is a possible inspiration: Given the ample amount of reflective materials in your space (floors, mirrors), I'd go for some soft or matte textured furnishings or to balance things out and give the entire space coziness and warmth. Possible inspirations: Here it's the curtains that diffuse light that comes into the apartment, matte dark walls absorb and soften light, while greenery lifts the entire space. The example you've suggested is lovely, all the more so because of a contrast between matte (cabinetry, kitchen island) and shiny (fixtures, kitchen island countertop) and of course lovely warm lighting overhead. (consider using warm lighting instead of cool white?) For dramatic effect, or simply to add more warmth, a large rug is a good idea too: Hope this helps, I'm sure other will have great ideas too....See MoreMichelle
