Artisan V Known brand?

What would persuade you to buy hand-crafted furniture made by an artisan - and what would prevent you?

    Artisan produced furniture is often better than known brands, but if I was considering a purchase I would want to know that the craftsmanship is of good quality before I commit. This involves being able to see the craftsmanship first hand in some way. Ideally there would be a showroom or workshop I could visit to see work in progress or to experience finished items. Videos showing detail very closely are also useful for this purpose :)

    As above would need to see it ideally in person. All depends on quality & price - & of course design.
