Ideas for Every Room or Function in the House, Even Outdoor Rooms!
I love, love, love this design idea! Love how the interior and exterior blend almost seamlessly into one! I picture the family waking up to morning coffee (or hot tea) and sipping leisurely in this outdoor area to enjoy year around! This is also a great space for entertaining as guests will have plenty of room to explore while they converse and mingle,
This is another beautiful and elegant dinnerware set with a handmade look to it...lovely to display as well as to use for entertaining guests or the whole family!
Beautiful and elegant dinnerware set to complement almost any table decor!
Love these handblown Pendant lights! These give a space such an artsy and homey feel! The color is just perfect for contemporary color schemes (can mix with neutral and warm complementary colors)!
Here is a kidney pillow in the same exotic bold floral design...would look amazing on a Navy or Royal blue sofa or upholstered chair!
Beautiful eye catching pillow with an exotic feel! Since I tend to gravitate to Eclectic design the most, I’m sure that this could find a home in a very cozy spot!
Great looking tub as well for a small space!
Very nice looking free standing tub for a small space, like mine!
Great looking vanity for a smaller space/bath for a Farmhouse look!
For this modern room, I would have to add a Bohemian flair to this room as well...a few throw pillows, a throw, and a rug for starters!
For this modern room, I would replace the two modern chairs with a design like this or another one in this collection.
For this modern room, I would replace the two modern chairs with a design like this or another one in this collection.
Love this beautiful abstract painting that would take center stage in any room!
Here’s another great design idea in an industrial loft type setting! Love how kitchen is set in alcove (looks like a soffit to me to lower the ceiling to help both define it and make it feel more cozy and inviting! Love the open kitchen island/bar area how open is and is conducive to conversation as the chef or chefs prepare a meal, snack, or the family’s favorite beverage!
This design idea has a look and feel of an industrial loft but with a Pop Art Andy Warhol twist! I really like how the Pendant lights are suspended from a rows of tracks from the ceiling. The second thing I really enjoy about this inviting and fun space is related to the first in that it uses some of the same materials and design—the panels of glass leading to a balcony or to the outside area...by placing blinds behind these panels, you get a clean stream-lined look! I’m thinking that these blinds could be controlled by a remote control and are the first thing to be lifted as you enter the room to let in the sunlight, but when you want less light or more privacy, you can place them back down!
Wow, what a great looking design project! Love how inviting and cheerful this kitchen island/bar is—illuminated with lights from underneath and with artisanal Pendant lights from above! The suspended shelves from the ceiling is another great idea. I also love the the glass and metal folding doors that help to keep this look open but also help to mark the transition between the kitchen and the family room! My artistic eye goes to that blank wall behind it, though, and wants to put one of the amazing hand-made paintings (not massed produced) that I have pinned in my ideabooks. However, the minimalist will enjoy how this kitchen island/bar seems to “float” in this space with the white walls!
This is an amazing article packed with a lot of great advice on how to make the most of a small space (I’ve lived in a 500 sq. ft. home with 4 people, so I can relate!).
Love this stylish kitchen island/cart that would match our maple kitchen table and chairs!
I have this or a similar design that I bought back when my husband and I first got married in our then very small house (500 sq. ft.). What I love about this kitchen cart is that the storage is amazing in the amount of kitchen items that can be stored in it! If you lack in kitchen cabinets, this is an essential item that provides a practical solution for your storage needs! Even better, this design has a very open feel and though it may take up the same amount of space or the footprint is the same, it is the Perfect piece to float in an open floor plan! You have everything where you can see it and retrieve it quickly without digging into a deep cabinet and bumping your head or hurting your knees...ouch!
Very nicely done banquette and reading/relaxing nook to provide very cozy seating with a view to the outside...this is likely where the family sits to visit and converse to enjoy a cup of coffee or hot tea! Love how much seating this room has with two areas to dine in that relate well to each other!
I really like the openness and grand scale of an industrial loft, and this one is a wonderful blend of mixing old and new elements like the old brick and the copper accents on the shelving...these cool and warm tones work together in harmony! My only suggestion would be to incorporate some warm tones on the cabinetry. For example, the large cabinet to the right where the ovens are located, you could “frame in” the interior panels of the cabinet doors picking up the original tones of the floor and then painting the centers with chalk paint, so that it duals as a message/art center, as well as provinding more eye appeal. Some textured copper/metal tiles or stained glass would be another option. Love this project overall!
I saw this piece in a vignette in one of my idea books and was quite taken by it...love the color scheme and texture! This artwork is sure to make heads turn to appreciate the decor!
Stunning and eye-catching textured painting with coastal colors! This would be a fabulous addition to any room!
Artwork is fantastic here—provides the perfect background for guests to converse and enjoy dining in a clean and efficient neutral space!
Very professional room for an artist...futon to sleep when not creating; seating to receive or talk/sell to clients about postential projects; and a desk for bill paying, as well as for designing projects! The large scaled artwork along with the clean lines of the well chosen furniture are sure to help encourage the future creative process!
Great versatile neutral craft room with eye appealing accessories!
Wow, love the color scheme in this room with mostly neutrals with pops of color that harmonize together...looks like a homey place for you to kick off your shoes and put your feet up while relaxing and enjoying a fire in the cold seasons!
I’m really liking how this design idea takes up minimal space and is so efficient, yet very eye appealing! For most of us who are the creative types, we find ourselves having to “carve out” a place to create, and this one is very well designed!
Timeless design that packs in a whole lot of eye appeal and interest...so inviting to play in and just be a kid (or one at heart!).! There’s plenty of built-in storage to keep everything neat and at your fingertips to insure you’ll be enjoying the room along with your kids or grandkids!
Love this secret get away play room and retreat! The additional stacked drawers to the left are a great bonus and all of the woodwork is integrated and matched with the stairs and banister!
Very high quality custom framework for this glass with wood trim pocket door looking into a very organized mud room! Love this idea!
Love this custom look option for a mud room...very practical and aesthetically pleasing!
Very nice storage unit that is built-in with a very neat stream-lined look and contains everything at your fingertips!
Very inviting dining area that is well decorated with a light and airy rustic French Country/Cottage feel! This design packs in great seating for family and friends’ gatherings that is not overly fussy!
What’s not to love about this kitchen that could serve as the family’s hub for generations...love all the built-in storage, seating at the island, and lots of windows letting in plenty of sunlight!
Here’s another view showing this wonderful kitchen nook that is both attractive and very functional serving multiple purposes!
Love the dual function all of these storage options pack in...a place tucked in for a little nook to read or craft (besides paying bills!), or a place to enjoy a beverage to sip leisurely while unwinding from a long day! The desk area by the window could also serve as a great place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee or tea while enjoying scones or another delightful pastry!
Cozy sunroom that is light, airy, and inviting! With doors in between the interior of the house, this room could function well as a getaway for Mom (or Dad) to relax and unwind for some pampering or to visit with friends and family!
Nice outdoor area with a Coastal feel that could serve as a sleeping porch (with interlocking blinds added in for privacy and to block the blinding sunlight in the eyes), as well as a gathering for the family to converse while enjoying the view of a secluded oasis!
I really like this idea as it spotlights the family’s memories and is so inviting! I love the cohesive look, as though these frames for family photos and mementoes are in different sizes, they have the same black frame design and are placed in a very aesthetically pleasing design reminiscent of galleries that invite the viewer to keep looking and exploring around the corner!
Here’s another view of this inviting family workroom or office overlooks a loft area (most likely over the hub of the family—the family room!).
Great oversized desk for multiple family members and is very convenient—tucked very close to the kids’ rooms. There’s a place for those never-ending craft and school projects and even for moms who might want to sneak in a craft projects of her own after the kids re in bed...shhh!
Great way to organize the family schedule by placing it in a central location that everyone passes by like the entryway or mud room!
Great built-in design that borrows from the school classroom; it packs in a lot of storage with a streamlined look that doesn’t clutter the room and also has a dual function of providing a place for family messages or for your budding little artists on the chalk painted doors! With the rain boots sitting on the floor, this obviously is a design for a mud room, but has design elements that could be adapted for a craft/artist room! Cubbies and shelves along with the built-in doors, could offer each family member a place to store their own ongoing projects (including for the kids’ upcoming science fair projects, STEM projects, craft projects, party events or for their own individual hobbies). We always have a whole lot of creative projects underway at my home, this would be a great design to house all of them!
I like this bedroom, because it provides the right mix or architectural details like the built-in bookshelf to the right of the bed, an eye catching focal point with the folk art quilt on the bed (with a handmade look) or duvet cover, and just the right amount of decor and accessory pieces to provide interest to the room without overcluttering the look or overwhelming the eye!
What a charming farmhouse sink and practical laundry and utility room! Love the look of hand made tiles forming the backdrop of this sink! This idea packs a lot of simple beauty and form into function!
Here is another way to work in that ever practical large utility sink...tuck it into the laundry room where you’ll use it a lot when you wash clothes, or have a clean up project where it’s more practical to wash heavy duty items that need serious scrubbing!
I am loving how practical and beautiful this sink is! For anyone who likes to do a lot of hand washing delicate items, or who likes to garden or with kids or grandkids who like to play outside a lot, this is a must!
This space looks more masculine to me but is so classy! I love the simple lines in this mud room! The wainscoting and shelves and armoire complement the flooring.
This is a great mud room idea for a family that doesn’t need a whole lot of storage compartments (like with school aged kids). The sitting area looks so comfy and inviting!
I love how the rustic wood (looks like salvaged wood) forms a backdrop for this very practical, yet inviting mud room! This idea provides tons of storage, while even having a place to sit! Love it!
I really like this idea of “floating furniture” like this, instead of placing predictably against a wall! When I used to sell furniture and do housecalls, often the homeowner would find a lot of challenges to arranging the space in the best possible way, because of the layout of the room, placement of doors and windows, and traffic flow! This family room not only works, but is inviting!
Here’s another idea for a special haven, no matter how small! I really like how this reading/relaxing nook is so well blended to the surrounding space and staircase—looks integrated quite well!
Great way to invite a reading nook or just a place to drink hot coffee or hot tea in or for the kids (or young adults) to daydream in!
This could be another corner of that coastal style room that has a bit of Bohemian feel to it...very inviting space!
Great coastal feel in this room that is so inviting and relaxing!
I like that this mom has everything neatly corralled into containers, but I think to be more practical, I would like these to be see through (although not as chic) with a system that puts the least used items at the top that you would need a step stool to even access! I think the biggest thing here to stress is to get organized in a limited space, you have to think vertical!
Looks like a practical way to organize a kid’s closet with smaller sized clothes without costing a whole lot!
This looks like a free standing unit that packs in a lot of storage that makes getting dressed a breeze! Love this idea for a small space,, or any space for a woman who has multiple accessories to store and access quickly!
These sliding doors are amazing! I think you could even use these on a glide system to serve as a room divider! You could place a coating on the glass to make more opaque or make them look more decorative. This is a sophisticated way to save space!
Love how chic and sophisticated this idea for a closet is! Look how everything is stored at your fingertips, yet everything is out of sight and not cluttering or taking up space in the room!
Great freestanding or installed piece to store a lot of kitchen and food items.
