A Kitchen Renovation Expert Reveals: 3 Things I Wish My Client Knew
A kitchen renovation expert shares three important things he wishes every client understood
Whether they are commonly asked questions or considerations that will make your project run smoother, we get the experts to spill all.
Edward Teo from Country Concept really wants you to know these before embarking on a kitchen reno.
1. Go for evergreen
Teo advises sticking to the classics. “Don’t follow design trends too closely when you’re renovating your kitchen, because trends come and go,” says Teo.

Instead, Teo suggests that you should stick to the “evergreen and classic designs”.
“Look for classic designs that are in sync with your own personality,” says Teo.

He also suggests that you should also think about how you actually use your kitchen. Don’t go for a design that is streamlined and minimal with little storage if you have a large family that loves to cook, for example.
2. Quality over quantity
“Choose carefully where to invest. Paying more for better quality materials might be a tad painful at the start, but it can save you time and money for extensive repair works in the long run.”

3. Invest in custom-built cabinetry
One of the best ways to have a really functional kitchen space is to invest in custom-built cabinetry says Teo.
“Ready-made furniture has its place, but custom-built shoe racks, kitchens and wardrobes maximise precious space in smaller homes with odd-shaped spaces,” he explains.

“Ready-made furniture has its place, but custom-built shoe racks, kitchens and wardrobes maximise precious space in smaller homes with odd-shaped spaces,” he explains.
“Ready-made furniture can’t always fit into that tight corner or challenging space whereas custom built furniture can. It essentially cuts down on wasted space in your home.”
