What determines the quality of a home’s feng shui? There are many contributors, however, they can all be categorised into exterior factors and interior factors. In this article, we’ll focus on steps you can take for your interior to improve your home’s feng shui.
What you should not do
If you’re worried about the cost of improving the feng shui in your house, don’t be. This article is not going to advise you to purchase cat statues, crystals, jades, or other expensive things. Let’s clarify this part: feng shui is not interior decorating. It is not about putting crystals, jade or similar objects into specific areas in your home.
Have you ever entered a home or office which has been blatantly ‘feng shui-ed’ as evidenced by all sorts of figurines and statues? That, to me, is a place that has not been properly ‘feng shui-ed’.
Last of all, you must have a reason to use feng shui. If you are well-to-do and happy with your life, why would you want to apply feng shui? You only turn to feng shui if there’s a certain aspect in your life that you want to fix or improve.

Every year, the location of the good sectors in your home change depending on the rotation of the Annual Flying Stars. For 2018, the positive sectors are:

In order to activate a positive sector, you would need to use a room in that sector regularly, like the house’s entrance, the bedroom, the kitchen or the study. For example, if there is a spare bedroom in the Southeast sector that not being used, why not move into it for the year so that you can reap the benefits of the Wealth Star?
Apart from utilising the positive sectors, you could also look at your main entrance or bedroom to see whether it’s possible to improve to increase the feng shui quality.

In a house, the main entryway for the qi (which is the core of feng shui) is the main entrance or door. Thus, you should ensure that the main door is able to transmit qi effectively by eliminating any blockage for qi. Here are several things to keep in mind:

Here are several tips:
- Place the headboard against a wall, not a window or in the middle of the room.
- The sun should not shine on the bed from morning to afternoon.
- Your feet should not face a door when you sleep.
- Nothing is directly above the bed, for example, a hanging light or shelf.
