The thing about trends from the past coming “ back” is just not true. The glass block squares from the 80s are nowhere to be seen in today’s glass block, just as the yellow-green bright brass of decades past is nothing like the warm brass color that is “in” today.

Design mavens manage to change what is popular so that our homes’ furnishings will be “out” before the decade is gone or the upholstery is worn. So we may as well chose a look we like that is not quite in or out, and know that no matter what we do, the next owners will find fault and change everything again.

So much for the argument for stone countertops, that they will last forever! Given our propensity for constant change, nothing more durable than Formica is ever justified!

Typical design changes; first everyone wants frameless showers, where there's nothing to obstruct the look of a large glass shower. Now that everyone's paid thru the nose for that, the latest design is black framing on the glass to make the design "bold"! I also don't know why anyone would want a rustic wood ceiling in a bathroom, where it can absorb the moisture & be a great breeding ground for mold.
