How are Singapore homeowners looking to change things up in their bedrooms in 2017? We noticed two common design concepts: bespoke space-saving solutions, and tone-on-tone tranquility. Simply put, you want a clutter-free, serene space to rest in. Here’s a closer look at these ideas, measured by the number of Singapore Houzzers who have saved bedroom photos to their Houzz ideabooks in 2016.
1. Customise storage for a restful, clutter-free room
This white, beige and grey bedroom has a custom-designed headboard that frames the bed and takes the place of bedside tables. Layered lighting in the form of the chandelier, spotlights and wall sconces create mood and depth so that the pale, neutral colour palette is far from blah.

2. Escape the city in your own urban log cabin
The recycled wood-panelled (you can use veneer or laminate to replicate the effect!) headboard-divider is complemented by a faux fireplace for that cosy, log cabin look. Built-in bedside tables and pendant lamps are a thoughtful touch, providing the owners all they need for bedtime within easy reach.

3. Marry old and new with a monochromatic scheme
A pale, neutral palette ties together the traditional and contemporary elements of this bedroom. Textures – such as those of the wooden pendant light, the nubby area rug, and the quilted headboard – keep the monochromatic look from looking flat.

4. Customise a small but stylish solution
A built-in platform bed, with storage and study desk, built over the bay window, maximises the space in this small bedroom. The Scandinavian-inspired colours of white-and-wood lightens up the bulkiness of the built-in.

5. Make it moody
This colour scheme is darker than the other favourites on this list, but it’s also a monochromatic one that’s given more interest by a layering of textures. Shiny, silky textures make up for the darker colours by being reflective and luxurious-looking.
