Finishing Touches

Rachel, I know this can be challenging trying to figure the percentage in a screen fabric. One important thing to note with screen fabrics is that different fabrics can also effect the "privacy" in a space too. If you want privacy at night, then a screen shade might not be your best option. You could do a roller shade in a light filtering fabric and then you would get light filtering through and privacy at night. To bring in the most light into a space, I would recommend a light color.

Chris Bethe for JCPenney Window Treatments

Hi Rachel, Screen shades are never what I call "bedroom private". When I'm in my clients' homes, we hold the samples up and look out the window through them. What you can see through them during the day, is what can be seen by those outside at night when you have the lights on. 1 % is the most opaque, but if that is not enough privacy for you, I agree that a Silhouette or something with similar properties would be a good choice.

Just Right Blinds & Shutters

Hi Rachel, if you find you need to consider another option to screen shades, a good choice is dual designer roller shades from Hunter Douglas. Dual roller shades are two shades that operate independently giving you both ultimate privacy and light control. By using an opaque or semi-opaque fabric on one roller and a sheer style fabric on the other roller you benefit from UV protection along with see-through plus a room darkening option. Hunter Douglas provides many beautiful designer fabrics and colors to choose from, so this can be an attractive as well as functional choice.
