These dogs are winning at Houzz. Take a look at their princely beds and be inspired
Being a good designer is all about listening to your client. By making sure they’re fully involved in the design process, and modelling the interior to suit their needs, your chance of a successful outcome is much higher. Judging by the contented look of these pets on Houzz, it’s clear their owners have done just that, because here are 11 dogs that, quite possibly, have better beds than any of us.
The glamper
I’m the kind of dog that can appreciate the finer things in life, so I asked my owner to create me a glamping-inspired teepee bed. It reminds me of Coachella.
I chose a gossamer-sheer white version and had it carpeted in sheepskin for that luxe look. Sometimes, though, I prefer to lounge on the larger rug outside; it just depends on what mood I’m in that day.

The box set addict
I had my owners bring my bed into the living room so I could keep up with family life and watch a bit of Netflix.
I chose a monochrome colour palette to tone in with the rest of the room scheme, but went for a bold stripe to stake out my territory and make sure no one else tries to get my prime position.
I’ve yet to be given my own remote control, but I live in hope.

The gourmet
I have a strong interest in cooking, so I asked for my bed to be situated near the kitchen, so I can survey my domain and keep an eye on what the humans are cooking up.
I didn’t want to get underfoot and be a nuisance, though, so I asked to be tucked away at one end of the kitchen island. It’s just a coincidence that I’m also perfectly positioned to snap up any scraps when the humans are eating meals at the breakfast bar.

I don’t travel anywhere without my personalised cushions and my little pal. I had this bed custom-made to allow us both to feel included during meal times in the kitchen. We each picked out a cushion for our side of the bed, but luckily we have the same taste, so they match perfectly.
By asking for our bed to be tucked under the worktop, we feel as if we’re in the thick of things, but not in the way. We’re thoughtful like that.

When you’re a rugged, outdoorsy sort of dog like me, there’s only one place for your bed – somewhere with quick access to the great outdoors. That’s why I asked for mine to be placed in the boot room. I like to feel I’m ready to go out for a walk at a moment’s notice, positioned as I am next to my owner’s coat and boots. It completely removes any, ‘I can’t find my gloves,’ sort of excuses.
The wipe-clean floor was a careful design consideration, too. I don’t like to be a burden to my owners, so with this tiled floor, they can just mop it down if I bring in any muddy paw prints. Which has been known.
