5 Apartments With Black and White Drama
These stunning flats demonstrate that the classic colour combination is anything but monotonous
With the words ‘black-and-white’ conjuring images of colonial-era bungalows for many Singaporeans, it’s no wonder that we want to replicate their classic, romantic feel in our contemporary, often cookie-cutter apartments. Getting that dramatic effect of the contrasting colours can be a bit tricky, though. There’s a certain je ne sais quoi of well made black-and-white interiors that, fittingly, also evokes Parisian chic, as these homes show.
So the wardrobe, which is designed like a private boutique, showcases the homeowner’s treasured fashion finds, and is the focal point of the apartment.
Not to be left out, the other spaces such as the bathroom and the bedroom are also tastefully decked out in black and white.

With a clean, predominantly white canvas, the curves and lines of the black furniture jump out as graphic elements in this home.

Minimal pops of honey-hued wood or light tan as well as fresh greens bring life to the monochromatic scheme.
The clean white base continues on to the other spaces, allowing the owner to change the accent as and when desired.

Another home with a clean, white base, the contemporary furniture here – all black – brings a weightier, more masculine look. With very little natural embellishments (in the form of plants), this one has a more stark, urban feel.
4. Stark contrast softened by textures

Building on the white base, textures in keeping with the colour scheme were added in the form of wallpaper, cabinet cladding and furniture finishes.
A luscious brown wood floor, emphasised by the brown leather sofa and the wood accent furniture, adds depth and richness to this black-and-white interior. Pops of green bring a freshness that just enlivens the home.
