All roads lead to the Singapore Grand Prix (although to be accurate, the roads are closed), and race fever (and live music, with all the after-race concerts) is in the air. Bring that car-high from all the F1 events this weekend to your home – whether you’ve got future speedsters or just want to feel like you live in the fast lane.

1. Start them young
It’s never too early to foster a love for cars: set a vintage toy race car next to baby’s cot, and hang buntings that are reminiscent of race flags, and baby’s good to go.

2. Don’t forget the details
Design is in the details, after all, and a car-shaped bed is just a car-shaped bed. But if you add a road decal to the wall, racing stripes on the floor, and toy cars, then you’ve got a room where your child’s imagination can truly go places.

3. Burn rubber
Here’s a more practical (and probably cost-effective) idea for a car-bed: a plain bed with actual car rims. Road signs on the wall add a vintage touch, as does the old-school train set. Picture ledges on one wall are ready-shelves for toy cars to park on.

4. Teens like cars too
For older kids, use less toy cars and more car parts, such as these wheel plates, as decor to effect a more sophisticated and edgy look.

5. For the adult speedster
Quirky and kitsch, but something a car-crazy hubby or dad will enjoy: a bumper-shaped desk! Perfect, if he’s got a home office or man-cave so it doesn’t distract from your interior style.

6. Go car-crazy
This attic has been transformed into a collector’s dream room. Young or old, they can vroom-vroom as loudly as they like in their own space.

7. Don’t forget the girl
Girls are fast and furious too! Here’s how to show it, and be edgy, feminine and stylish at the same time: chrome details on a monochromatic palette, and the sleekest of model cars on bedside display.
8. Drive anywhere
No space is spared when you’re this car-crazy: even the powder room is decked out in car plates and bulbs dressed up as car lights.
