More
Working a whimsical bathroom into a 19th-century terrace with its own idiosyncratic touches was required in this project. Winwood Mckenzie Architecture more than rose to the challenge with this charming, mixed-materials bathroom.

In a Q&A format, we talk to the designers – and examine the creative thinking – behind some of Houzz’s most loveable rooms.

The new floor plan

What challenges did you work around?
The existing conditions of the original house and the design challenge of creating a bathroom conceived as a work of art to be inhabited and enjoyed.
Winwood Mckenzie Architecture
Why do you think this room works?
Even within a small space, the density of ideas creates architecture that is layered, referential and detailed in conception and realisation. The engaging peacefulness of the house is enriched yet remains undisturbed.
