Raffles College of Higher Education, Interior Design Department student Aung Naing Linn was awarded the Young Designer Award 2016, edging out fellow design students from his school, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore Institute of Technology and Temasek Polytechnic who had entered the competition. He won $2,000 and a trophy from Design Intervention, and an iPad Pro courtesy of Houzz. RDI also received 38 new design books for their library, for producing the winning student.
Singapore design consultancy Design Intervention last year launched the Young Designer Award, a competition for future interior designers in Singapore. The firm’s founding partner, Nikki Hunt, says that the award is their way of giving back to the country and industry, by encouraging its next generation of interior designers.
