How to Create an Auspicious Welcome for the Lunar New Year
Usher in the arrival of the Year of the Rooster with a festive foyer display and reunion table setting
The variety of Lunar or Chinese New Year decorations is endless: from delicate paper cuttings, to fabric lanterns, and 3D paper objects. They come in a wide range of symbols, too, from the Chinese zodiacs to more traditional and generic auspicious symbols such as pineapples and gold ingots. Red is easily the primary hue connected to Chinese festivities, so a Lunar New Year table would be remiss without it! Lighten it up a little by using another colour; in this instance I used pink.
For the centrepiece, I used bright pink-dyed pussy willows that really lift the space.

If you have a stash of old-school glassware like me, its time to parade them for the party!

Create a festive and eye-catching vignette at your doorway by using a branch (you can pick one up on your walk home!) anchored by pine cones in a tall glass vessel. Hang paper pineapples – these are easily found in Chinatown.
