How to Use Green to Add Energy to Your Monochrome Interior Decor
Monochrome colour schemes are classic and easy, but they can become bland and cold so add a touch of green
We all love a nice monochrome space. It’s easy to decorate in many ways since you can’t go too wrong with black and white, or white and grey. Sometimes, however, monochrome tones all blend together and the space becomes more boring than beautiful.
One of the simplest ways to add more energy to your interior spaces is to borrow from nature and add a touch of green. Luckily for us, green is not only a trending colour, it’s also a shade that doesn’t generally date too quickly; just stick to colours found in the great outdoors, and you’ll be fine.

Add green statement furniture pieces
If you don’t want to totally redo your apartment decor, just focus on one or two fabulous pieces of statement furniture in green. Chairs are a great option; you only need to buy one perfect green chair to totally change the look and feel of a room.
Easy tip: No space or budget for new furniture, just go with cushions. There are so many available to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

The Maverick Armchair - Hunter Green
Try a green statement chair
I’m totally in love with this amazing Maverick Armchair in Hunter green. The vaguely Art Deco retro styling of the arms means that it will stand out in the room, and the colour is an absolute classic.

Hang artwork
Another easy way to add green to your room is by updating with a lovely piece of art.
Easy tip: If you don’t want to spend too much money, pick up a blank canvas from artist supplier Art Friend and a length of green fabric. Stretch the fabric over the canvas, staple in place and you’ve just made piece of ‘art’ for your wall.

Can you go green in the kitchen?
In major spaces like kitchens you don’t really want to go crazy with colours – especially if you’re thinking of selling your apartment later. The easiest way to add a touch of green in a kitchen is via inexpensive pieces like stools or appliances. And of course you can add lots of flowers and plants; herbs are especially good in the kitchen.

Bathrooms are perfect for growing greenery
Finally a reason to be thankful for all the water and humidity in your bathroom. I just love this design; all the different plants on the glass shelves add colour and life to an otherwise plain bathroom. Like kitchens, it’s not a good idea to use bright, distinctive colours for major fittings. Stick with white for tiles, toilets and vanities; remember you can always take your plants with you.

Add a touch of luxe with textured curtains
I really like the textured brocade on these curtains; this will add a touch of luxury to your room, and they’re really affordable too.
Easy tip: When buying curtains it’s a great idea to double the number you’d normally need to cover your windows. This way you’ll have fuller coverage and block out more light. It will also look more luxurious.

As you can see in this living room, the dark black and white monochrome interior scheme has been enlivened by a tiny, potted green plant. It helps that the large motif on the wall has a natural leaf-like design too.
