Kitchen Tour: Condo Cookspace is Designed for a Growing Family
Moving the kitchen location within the unit required major works to bring about this preppy, peppy family kitchen
Before renovation
Moving the kitchen (which is now the guest bedroom) meant rerouting the plumbing.

“It’s major plumbing and electrical works to convert the bedroom into a new kitchen,” Liu says.
The swop resulted in a larger cookspace, allowing Liu to build an island with a mini library for cookbooks and kids books. The island is also intended to double as additional work surface and informal dining. The end of the island that faces the entrance is rounded to make it easier and friendlier to walk around.
“The owner has not bought bar stools for the island yet”, Liu says.

Wood-look laminates bring a cosiness to the mostly-white kitchen, while patterned tiles bring colour and a touch of fun. The worktops are quartz.

Who lives here: A couple with a toddler
Location: Tiong Bahru
Size: 160 square foot kitchen in 1,300 square foot condo
Designer: Brandon Liu of Aiden T
When the owners commissioned interior design firm Aiden T to renovate their apartment, they had a simple brief: more storage for a growing family, and a kitchen with enough space for built-in appliances and work surfaces. They like to cook, so an island in an open-concept kitchen would be ideal for family bonding and keeping an eye on their toddler as they cook.
