At least half the photos illustrating a particular "easy clean" feature have a whole slew of other things in the same kitchen that are a real chore to keep clean and looking new

I have found that anything be it countertops,

floors or appliances are easier to clean if they do not have a shiny finish.

Something to keep in mind: Mid-century modern used industrial, man-made materials for counter tops. So if you are doing a MCM kitchen, granite is not really consistent with that style. Maybe going out of style anyway.
