Chief Sub-Editor and Writer, Houzz Australia and New Zealand. I love design and architecture that is thoughtful, sophisticated and champions an element of the unexpected. Before graduating with a Bachelor of Arts at UNSW and becoming a journalist, I studied interior architecture. For over a decade I have interviewed inspiring creative minds from around the world to write about design in its many different forms. Recently, I have also become an accidental gardener, to everyone's surprise.

Blue has become the ‘new neutral’ of interior design in recent years, and dark blue has earned a name for itself as the darling of decoration. See for yourself how this cooling colour can town down a room, from a kitchen to a bedroom on the floor, or wall, or amp it up with a dash of drama.

Personally I like the monochromatic colour scheme of image 4. Even though the same tone has been used across the board each item still stands alone. Also love the choice of sofas.
Most of these are far too dark and gloomy for my taste (some accent lighting or lamps would help), although the blue as an accent to white in number 22 looks good. I adore the wallpaper in number 20 but would have chosen a green or gold/mustard yellow sofa instead!
