Young Designer Award 2018: Another Ngee Ann Polytechnic Student Wins
Ryan Tan's 'Biophilic Modernist' entry wins the 2018 competition for Singapore's next generation of interior designers

Ngee Ann Polytechnic student Ryan Tan, who is studying Architecture Specialisation, bested fellow design students from his school, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), National University of Singapore (NUS), Raffles Design College and Temasek Polytechnic to win the Young Designer Award 2018.
Other winners were runner-up Gareth Seah from NUS, and Sally Tan from Raffles Design College, who won both the AkzoNobel Let’sColour Award and Best Original Design Concept. Monica Angeline from Raffles Design College was the most popular finalist, winning the online vote via the Houzz Voters’ Choice Award.
Founded in 2015 by Singapore design firm Design Intervention to inspire and cultivate residential design among Singapore-based interior design students, the Young Designer Award is endorsed by the Singapore Design Council.

Nikki Hunt and Andrea Savage hosted the evening’s programme.
Tony Been, APAC Houzz Country Manager, presented the Houzz Voters’ Choice Award. The finalists raised over 5,000 votes within a three-week voting period.
Monica Angeline’s entry garnered 2,330 likes, earning her the Houzz Voters’ Choice Award.
Design Intervention’s studio was transformed with a festive spread for the evening.
Student finalists and their cohort attended industry talks by AkzoNobel and Dulux.
The finalists were on-hand to explain their design concepts to the evening’s guests.
