This water locked site is rich in the history of Emsworth’s marine past. In the 19th century the former building was originally designed to help farm the famous oyster beds that lines the shore. Our design sensitively responds to the history of the building and the historic core of Emsworth Conservation Area by using traditional materials such as Red Clay Brickwork in English Bond, Pebble Flintwork, Oak Cladding and Heritage Red Clay Tiles, in conjunction with traditional oak framed detailing to ensure it sits harmoniously within its context.
The carefully designed layout provides framed views of Chichester Harbour AONB from the main living spaces and bedrooms, but also ensures privacy from the public promenade enclosing Emsworth Millpond.

Hit Channel 4 programme The Restoration Man saw Jackie Robinson and Neil Worrell renovate the abandoned St Peter’s Church in the heart of the fishing village of Brixham into their first home together.
The result was a beautiful home, packed with interesting design features and innovative use of old and new materials, with tiling playing a huge part in the transformation.
The church which was built in 1874 but had stood empty for five years when Neil and Jackie came across it and saw its potential as a remarkable living space.
When they found it, the church was derelict, damp and dilapidated. Due to its poor condition, it also needed completely stripping out and a full restoration throughout was in order.
The restoration of the building’s natural stone and use of strong Victorian colours and wall and floor tiles were key points which contributed to creating a unique living space in the main church chancel. Over 10 tonnes of ceramic tiles were used – and 1.5 tonnes of grouts and adhesives supplied by Norcros.
Three different types of ceramic tiles were used throughout the building, including four different styles and patterns of modern wall tiles for each of the four unique bathrooms. Victorian patterned clay floor tiles in decorative designs were used for the master bedroom, bathroom and kitchen area and off-white extra-large Italian 1.2 square metre tiles throughout the modernist-style basement area.
But Norcros didn’t just supply the products. They provided technical assistance in scheduling the couple’s requirements for tiling, substrate materials, grouts, silicone and waterproofing compounds. This was a highly complex specification as the tiling was laid to a variety of substrates including plasterboard, chipboard, plywood, blockwork, concrete slabs and existing masonry walls.
And all of this with the added pressure of being in front of the TV cameras as George Clarke was filmed for an episode of The Restoration Man.
After the huge project was completed, Jackie said: ‘’Norcros were very helpful technically and the products were delivered to the site quickly and efficiently. Their technical knowledge of what we needed was amazing!”
The Norcros Adhesives products used in the restoration included:
Norcros Prime Bond
Permalayer Anti Fracture Membrane
Waterproofing Admixture
Wet Seal Tanking Kit
Norcros Rapid Porcelain Adhesive
Rapid Porcelain & Stone White Adhesive
Norcros Thick Bed Floor Tile Adhesive
Norcros One-Part Flexible Adhesive
Stop Mould Flexible Wall Tile Grout

A beautiful marble feature ensuite for our client. Including brushed brass concealed brassware, a custom wooden basin shelf, countertop bowl, black shower enclosure and heated towel radiator finished with beautiful and timeless marble hexagon wall tiles.

This was a dramatic renovation of master en-suite, family bathroom and cloakroom. A 90s build ready for a face lift. The result is warm and inviting, the rooms are a joy to be in at all times of day with light streaming in. The real triumph in both bathrooms was placing the open wet room style showering areas directly underneath the sky lights. The experience of showering and looking out at the sky makes every day feel like a holiday. The clients were not afraid to have some fun with colour either giving these rooms a modern, country feel.

Camplings Building Surveying Consultancy recently completed this project in Essex for a family who foster disabled children.
The large Edwardian house whilst dilapidated had a number of features influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement.
A sympathetic scheme was designed which included extensive refurbishment, re-modelling and extension to provide a compact Hydrotherapy pool and wheelchair access whilst preserving the character of the house. Thanks to all of the team for a successful handover to this challenging project.
