Brooke B. SammonsRemodel in historical Munger Place, this house is a Craftsman Style Reproduction built in the 1980's. The Kitchen and Study were remodeled to be more in keeping with the Craftsman style originally intended for home.
Visbeen ArchitectsThe challenge of this modern version of a 1920s shingle-style home was to recreate the classic look while avoiding the pitfalls of the original materials. The composite slate roof, cement fiberboard shake siding and color-clad windows contribute to the overall aesthetics. The mahogany entries are surrounded by stone, and the innovative soffit materials offer an earth-friendly alternative to wood. You’ll see great attention to detail throughout the home, including in the attic level board and batten walls, scenic overlook, mahogany railed staircase, paneled walls, bordered Brazilian Cherry floor and hideaway bookcase passage. The library features overhead bookshelves, expansive windows, a tile-faced fireplace, and exposed beam ceiling, all accessed via arch-top glass doors leading to the great room. The kitchen offers custom cabinetry, built-in appliances concealed behind furniture panels, and glass faced sideboards and buffet. All details embody the spirit of the craftspeople who established the standards by which homes are judged.
Blue Sound Construction, Inc.This Seattle remodel of a Greenlake house involved lifting the original Sears Roebuck home 12 feet in the air and building a new basement and 1st floor, remodeling much of the original third floor. The kitchen features an eat-in nook and cabinetry that makes the most of a small space. This home was featured in the Eco Guild's Green Building Slam, Eco Guild's sponsored remodel tour, and has received tremendous attention for its conservative, sustainable approach. Specialized Stair and RailSolid jatoba treads accent this closed riser cherry wood staircase. This traditional stair blends fine details with simple design. The natural finish accentuates the true colour of the solid wood. The stairs’ open, saw tooth style stringers show the beautiful craftsmanship of the treads.

Cornerstone ArchitectsThe development of the architecture and the site were critical to blend the home into this well established, but evolving, neighborhood. One goal was to make the home appear as if it had been there 20 years. The home is designed on just under an acre of land with a primary concern of working around the old, established trees (all but one was saved). The exterior style, driven by the client’s taste of a modern Craftsman home, marries materials, finishes and technologies to create a very comfortable environment both inside and out. Sustainable materials and technologies throughout the home create a warm, comfortable, and casual home for the family of four. Considerations from air quality, interior finishes, exterior materials, plan layout and orientation, thermal envelope and energy efficient appliances give this home the warmth of a craftsman with the technological edge of a green home.

Kathryn Tegreene Interior DesignThis home was in poor condition when it was found. Much of the trim was missing, there was a bookcase in the room and the carpet smelled very bad. There was a colonnade in that location originally, but it had been removed by a previous owner.
