Anouska Lancaster is one of the UK’s leading interior designers, she believes your home decor should bring joy and happiness, and be a reflection of your personal style and individuality. Recently billed by VOGUE magazine as the UK’s most influential interiors expert, her designs are inspired by her own life journey. Anouska is renowned for empowering her clients with the confidence to step outside the box, and reflect their passions and personalities within their homes. Her work is colourful, brave and bold, as she manages to successfully change ‘dull and lifeless’ into unique and stunning, ‘masterpieces’ that celebrate individuality. Penally House is the perfect example of this transformation, a period property from 1836 that was in dire need of restoration. After a lot of hard work and determination the finished house is a celebration of pattern and colour, whilst maintaining its English heritage. Rothschild & Bickers supplied some beautiful large peach glass Flora Pendants to hang over the stunning kitchen island, accenting the floral pattern wallpaper and eclectic mix of antique crockery.

Designed and made in an Arts & Crafts style this oak framed and panelled kitchen has been designed to provide large areas of working surfaces while optimising storage. The use of timber to create useful and visually effective storage within this kitchen was paramount, with the resultant strong lines broken by glazed and recessed display cupboards as well as a mantle concealing the extractor over the induction hob. Miele appliances are used within the tall bank of units, while other doors hide the dishwasher and full height fridge. The Arts & Crafts design is enhanced by the use of feature pilasters with a hand carved lily inspired by Lindsay Butterfield’s block printed linen designs. The Corian work-surface is seamlessly moulded around the shape of the surface, as well as right up to the underside of the cupboards, creating a full height splashback upon which are mounted the electrical and lighting switches.

Refurbishment of a Grade II* Listed Country house with outbuildings in the Cotswolds. The property dates from the 17th Century and was extended in the 1920s by the noted Cotswold Architect Detmar Blow. The works involved significant repairs and restoration to the stone roof, detailing and metal windows, as well as general restoration throughout the interior of the property to bring it up to modern living standards. A new heating system was provided for the whole site, along with new bathrooms, playroom room and bespoke joinery. A new, large garden room extension was added to the rear of the property which provides an open-plan kitchen and dining space, opening out onto garden terraces.

Photos by Brian MacLochlainn of www.BMLmedia.ie A renovated Arts and Crafts House in Dublin - Designed by - Rhatigan & Hick and Aine Sweeney, Interior Designer This Transitional New York loft style kitchen in Dublin encompasses the best in modern family living. A beautifully crafted, handmade kitchen by acclaimed Furniture Makers, Rhatigan & Hick emphasizes the height and volume in this light filled 400 sq. ft extension. The style is strikingly simple but uncompromising in its open plan nature. This kitchen is designed to display, not hide the families motley collection of white and blue porcelain ,pewter, brass and mixed china ware. The soft palette of greys, greens and Off Whites harmonizes with the garden beyond the double french doors and reflects the light that pours through the Velux windows that cover the cathedral vaulted ceiling . Equal attention to detail has been paid to the relaxed antique style of leather and wool dining chairs with orangerie table, the beautiful panelled joinery and built in furniture in the family room, the soaring aluclad graphite windows commissioned by the designer for this project and the distressed timber ceiling beams creating a beautiful, laid back room that the family spend most of their time in. This home has been furnished with care and consideration shown to every detail from the soft-worn leather sofas and chairs, the calacatta marble worktops, wool and linen/ cotton blend soft furnishing inspired by colours from the Irish landscape. Aged brass hardware finishes, oiled french wooden floors and a layered lighting scheme add to the comfort of this family home that effortless embraces and connects contemporary living with the original footprint of this lovely period house.
