Located in the foothills of the North Georgia Appalachians, Big Canoe is just one hour north of Atlanta. Designed as a dream retirement home, this luxurious lodge melds mountainous terrain with many custom features and modern amenities. During the warmer months, the homeowners enjoy spending time on their back porch, entertaining and taking in the spectacular views. In order to combat the biting insects, allow the cool breezes to flow through their home and preserve unobstructed views, the home owners requested retractable screens to be installed on their doors, windows, and back porch. Screens of Georgia, Phantom Screens Authorized Distributor, installed Professional retractable door screens on several doorways throughout the home. Providing natural ventilation while keeping insects out of the house, the screens blend with custom doorways and retract out of sight when not in use. Perfect for the oversized front double-French entryway, Professional door screens do not detract from the look and feel of the lodge design.

This project was not about just putting two things together, it was about coming up with the best solutions to accomplish the overall vision. A true meeting of the minds was required around every turn to achieve "rough" in its most luxurious state. PhotographerLink

The foyer was a tight space and we knocked down part of the wall into the studio beyond to create a storage space that was flushed with the entryway wall. We envisioned this space to be a perfect reception into an artist’s home. Hence, we designed the flooring with an artistic flair of patterned tiles bordering it with a plain base, coloured the ceiling and spruced up the space with a gorgeous, multi-coloured pendant light. A hand carved mirror was a delightful add-on.

The entry of this home is the perfect transition from the bright tangerine exterior. The turquoise front door opens up to a small colorful living room and a long hallway featuring reclaimed shiplap recovered from other rooms in the house. The 14 foot multi-color runner provides a preview of all the bright color pops featured in the rest of the home.
