This creative homeowner designed a stunning dry creek bed to serve as a border between a whimsical garden and the plush lawn. She selected an impressive sandstone bridge which leads to a cozy seating area, guarded by her cherished giraffe, Gigi. Come by to see our range of river rock and boulders at 5726 Market Street in Wilmington, NC.

When the Clients bought this lovely family home in Belsize Park they asked Bridget Reading id to draw up plans to completely remodel the house, to include a basement and reconfiguring the layout on all floors of the house.
Our brief was to maximize every possible amount of space in the garden, but with generous planting space for the Clients to indulge their passion for plants. Pleached trees were planted to create privacy around the perimeters, and this natural enclosure lent itself well to creating a superbly sheltered space, especially so in the front garden, which catches the evening sun, and now is home to an olive tree placed in a raised planter set at the end of a stepping stone path. The brief for the back garden was to create a focal point which added an architectural quality, and worked during both the daytime and at night. The Clients enjoyed the sound of water and so we designed a large water wall, clad in cor-ten steel, which is split at nighttime. The garden also features a secret space, tucked away behind the water wall, which is designated as the Moroccan room, for quiet times during the day and evening.

This area of the lawn was very dry and lacking appeal. A half moon shape bed was created and an array of evergreens, perennials and a few annuals were planted. Now as you round the corner you are met with eye catching colors.

Plant design, installation and photography by Chris Kolb of Ark Gardens. It exhibits a native plant roadside border in winter. The evergreen female American Holly (Ilex opaca) trees provide red berries for song birds and they also structure the plant design. They are the "bones" of the garden. Also seen are the Yellow Twig Dogwoods (Cornus sericea flaviramea) that brighten the New England landscape in the dim months.

This homeowner is serious about golf! He now has the ability to practice his game in his very own backyard. Thanks to AlternaScapes, this homeowner was able to have a putting green, tee box and large grass area installed. As you can see, this area is the centerpiece of his backyard!

Over 400 perennials were included in this New Jersey landscape to produce color from early spring through late fall. The residential driveway landscaping is colorful and became an eye-catching front yard design.
This driveway designwas done with tumbled pavers. The nice thing about this type of paver is that it has a more stone-like or rustic look. It is also comprised of different colors rather than being one solid color.
