Laughlin Design Associates, Inc.This is the second project designed and executed for this client. They wanted a colorful water wise landscape that would be low maintenance. Designer had to replace the crumbling retaining wall and build new steps and a walk way. Many colorful, water wise plants were used.

The English Gardens are characterized by regular, geometric planting patterns and pathways, with antique decorative accessories heightening their old-world feel. Special nooks and hideaways, coupled with the sound of cascading water in fountains, create a serene environment, while delicate lighting in planter boxes makes the garden perfect for early evening strolls.

In this small front garden in Greenwich we have used the soft yorkstone to blend with the old london brick of the house contrasting geometric pattern Victorian replica tiles all softened with a simple mix of planting to create a wonderful entrance to this lovely home and an additional basement seating area to catch the late afternoon sun.

Hodgins et Associés - Architectes paysagistesThe main entrance to the property is two discreet gravel tracks through the lawn. A 300 foot long perennial garden changes colours with the seasons. In early spring golden yellow narcissus and daffodils bloom with muscari and scilla In late spring the garden transforms into a riot of indigos, blues, violet and a dash of orange: geraniums, baptisia, lupins, iris, campanula with oriental poppies. In the summer through to fall white dominates always with touches and accents of deep blues and violet and orange: white phlox, hollyhocks & echinacea with veronicastrum, asters, bella conda lilies, yellow roses and hemerocallis.

The evergreen Trachelospermum jasminoides works to hide the high brick walls creating intimacy and the fragrance in the early evening adds to the feeling of an exotic hanging garden.
