VJ Project

On the left terrace, we once again ran bluestone "planks" in varying lengths and widths into the space to move the eye out into the space and to invite visitors into the space. In order to balance the triptych of granite spheres on the right terrace we added a triptych of Alaskan cedars, or chamaecyparis nootkatensis 'Van Den Akker', wonderful conifers which can reach a height of 25 feet but remain less than 2 feet wide after the horizontal juvenile growth is removed from the bottom. Again, for continuity we installed juniper conferta 'All Gold' along with variegated iris. The variegation mirrors the balustrade on the front porch. Photo by Jay Sifford.
