About Us

Hickory Builders was founded in 1989 and has built its outstanding reputation by providing top quality remodeling and custom home building services to its customers. Since joining the company in 2004, Brian W. Winne has overseen its operations. Under Brian’s direction, Hickory Builders has built a solid, growth-oriented company proudly serving southwest Michigan. Brian has more than 30 years of experience as a business management consultant and is a retired partner at Accenture. During his career at Accenture, Brian worked in more than 100 companies around the world helping them to design and implement complex business systems and to improve their competitive performance. As the Owner and President of Hickory Builders, and a licensed builder, Brian brings his experience and business expertise into all aspects of the company. Brian spends much of his time developing design specifications, monitoring work performance, and managing back-office operations. Brian’s specialty is developing unique designs for built-in furniture, fireplaces, kitchens, bathrooms, and even entire homes. Brian's passion, is working directly with customers and helping them to realize their home remodeling or new home vision. Brian has a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial management and computer science from Purdue University. Hickory Builders hires and retains only well qualified, experienced trades people for all our projects. Our employees have all had several years of experience performing design and construction work and leading remodeling and construction projects. Hickory Builders is fully licensed and insured with over 150 years of combined building industry experience. We signed a contract with Hickory in January and was in our Lake Home by Memorial Day. A 2,100 sq ft remodel with most walls and ceilings to the studs. Worked with a wonderful team Brian, Jeff and Amanda. Project was slightly over budget due to owner changes. My wife and the Hickory team worked well together and turned out a beautiful indoor environment throughout the three floors. Truly the Hickory team delivered value for money!

Hickory Builders, Inc. has worked on several major projects for us, including the remodel of my husband's law office, addition to our dining room, complete remodel of our kitchen and bathrooms, architectural changes to our front entry and garage, addition of a Bilco door, the design and construction of a new fireplace, and ongoing maintenance and handyman items. We were impressed with the company's computer design capabillities and attention to detail at every turn, from inception to completion. Every detail was discussed in advance and committed to writing. Each and every employee assigned to our projects was skilled, courteous and professional. All telephone calls were returned promptly. The quality of the work was excellent and competitively priced.

I have contracted four projects with Hickory Builders. First, was a bathroom remodel. With the design team a plan was developed and from start to finish a pleasant experience. The end result was better than I could imagine and have enjoyed every detail incorporated into the design. A year ago I had some issues with the tile floor and Hickory Builders came back and tore up the tile and replaced it free of charge. This speaks to not only their customer service , but to the degree of integrity they work from. I was so pleased with that experience, that a few years after my bathroom remodel I contracted a new walkway, then a new fence and landscape around my pool, and last year new siding and window seat in my bedroom. I would not have any work done on my house without consulting with Hickory Builders. Having a company care about their clients on all levels, and helping the customers achieve their goals is what Hickory Builders is all about. I highly recommend Hickory Builders to do any job on your home.

We had a small master bathroom with a huge jet tub, one sink, toilet and small shower. Hickory Builders came up with a design that made the bathroom feel twice as big with everything we wanted. By taking one of the linen closets on the other side of the wall and removing the unused jet tub, they were able to not only make a large shower my husband wanted, but also put in a double sink, claw foot tub and a beautiful cabinet with a lot of storage. The transformation is amazing and a pleasure to be in whether in the tub soaking in a nice soothing hot bath or showering with lots of room. The cabinetry is custom built and the quality is second to none. They are professional, clean and go above and beyond! We also had the kitchen done a few years earlier and also an outstanding job, that's why we had them back. I would trust them with any project large or small, their attention to detail from start to finish is great, on scheduling to picking out fixtures and guiding with great suggestions.
