About Us

Cathy has been a designer for over 20 years. After enjoying a career in physical therapy, Cathy was able to fulfill her passion and begin taking interior design courses and working with great interior designer mentors, eventually creating CKI. Cathy grew up in New Hampshire in a home built by her engineer father. She spent her college years in Boston, then made a professional move to Los Angeles. She loves combining her passion for nature, architecture, family living, and entertaining to create beautiful, functional interiors in a way that are completely individual to the client. When she is not busy designing, Cathy enjoys spending time with her family, pets, gardening, the ocean, reading, books and travel. CKI is a full service interior design firm. We provide design services from initial concept to completion, to give you the home of your dreams. CKI's passion is working with you to transition your house into a welcoming, beautiful home that expresses your personality & lifestyle while using materials that withstand the rigors of a life well lived! CKI works with each client on an individual basis to determine the scope of the project within the desired timeframe and budget. We work with our clients to uncover their design vision, functional needs and personal style. Cathy is a pleasure to work with. She has a keen sense of design and was a pleasure to collaborate with. She has made our new home on the Cape an oasis. She has a quality team of contractors, painters, plumbers and electricians. The majority of the work was completed while we were not there which speaks volumes how much I trust her and her team. Last but not least, she listens to you and treats both your home and cost as if it were her own. I highly recommend her and in fact we are getting ready to start another project together!

The Chimney Chap & South Shore Fireplace

Cathy helped us design our new office space. She helped us utilize the space we had to fit our needs and budget. Cathy was very prompt, professional, and accommodating. We had strong communication both by phone, email, and in person, even when she went on vacation! She helped answer all my contractor's questions and made it very easy to work with. We both enjoyed working with her and were very pleased.

We recently purchased a condo on the Cape and needed help transforming it into our retirement retreat. We have been working with Cathy for a few months developing plans and ideas for a comfortable and cozy home. Cathy has great ideas and an eye for pulling it all together. We are currently working on the living room and dining room and she has been persistent in finding just the right furniture or accessory for those spaces. We look forward to watching her “create” the other rooms in our condo. She’s a great listener and really tries to determine what our needs and desires are as well as our budget. We are very excited to be working with her and can’t wait for our next appointment!

I have been working alongside Cathy as a trade-professional for about a year now and have never felt so comfortable bouncing ideas off someone. She is truly open for any type of design dilemma, will talk through any decorating hurdle and can tell anyone, she absolutely cares about her clients. Cathy presents herself as a seasoned professional with 20 years in business however my personal experience involved a series of rookie mistakes. Her first design for my master suite was off 3 feet, her second, 22 inches. She then ignored my concerns and insisted on a third/desperate design attempt which placed my king sized bed in a corner on an 11 foot wall. This was after I had repeatedly told her I was uncomfortable with less than 14 feet. Either she didn't listen or she didn't care. I also had a poor experience with the soft goods she ordered for my guest room. Overall my experience with Cathy was a huge waste of time and money.
