CLARE HAXBY

I am a British Mixed Media Artist based in London and represented in Singapore where I lived for 8 years. I have been an artist all my life, I studied at Kingston Upon Thames University in London, with a focus on painting and printmaking. I moved to Singapore in 2007 where I was able to return to my painting practice in a serious way (In London I worked as a creative make-up artist and textile designer). I started with my Buddha Collection inspired by our visits to Thailand and Bali, but after a friend suggested I paint Singapore 'in your funky printmaking style', I created my first painting of the beautiful colonial building of Raffles Hotel. As I acquired more visitors to my studio, people loved my emerging collection of Singapore Landmarks and I then was approached by The Fullerton Hotel who offered to host my solo exhibition 'Singapore Landmarks'. To date my largest work is 'The Singapore Botanic Gardens' painting which is 12 ft x 4ft. Many of the original paintings I make are large scale and can take several months to complete. These are showcase pieces that are made for exhibition or for bespoke commissions, but I am also passionate about making my Art accessible to those who do not have the space or budget for an original piece. Choosing to make my prints only of the highest quality is important to me, not only do I use the highest quality German Hahnemuhle cotton paper which is 310 gsm but I have a master printer who makes sure that the Giclee print's colours are matched to the painting and the colours are as intense and bright as they are on the canvas. At Clare Haxby Studio we sell our prints as a Limited Edition, this means that once the edition quantity is sold then no more are produced. The prints are signed and feature the Clare Haxby Studio Seal for Authenticity as well as a unique edition number. This gives you the confidence that you are buying a special and unique art print.
