About Us

Cotterell & Co - Leading suppliers of Lighting, furniture and home accessories to the public and trade. We have 3 branches in the UK throughout Scotland and Northern England. Cotterell & Co opened its first lighting shop back in 1952 in Glasgow. From humble beginnings we have grown into one of the country’s leading suppliers of indoor and outdoor lighting with stores in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle. Our range of design-led furniture, mirrors and home accessories has expanded year on year. Cotterell and Co is still very much a family business, and entered its third generation when Lorraine Cotterell took over the reins.

Andrew and his friendly team at Cotterell & Co, Newcastle run an efficient, professional business. With access to a very large range of lighting, from very high end to the more conservative price ranges, and are always able to source lighting to fit my clients' needs. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Lorn Macneal Architects

At Lorn Macneal Architects we use a number of lighting designers and suppliers. Over the years we have worked with Cotterell & Co on numerous residential projects where they have provided ourselves and clients with a wealth of knowledge, meeting our requests and providing everything from lighting quotations, design & fitting advice to supplying light fittings for various projects. The customer service was very good with prompt responses to any technical and sales enquiries.

Cottrell & Co provided us with an excellent service. Ruth was happy to visit our house and provide advice on every room in our house during our recent renovation. I felt she listened carefully to what we were wanting and gave us plenty of suggestions as well as occasionally making suggestions that we might not otherwise have thought about. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who needs any kind of advice whether it be just for one lamp or kitting out a full house!

After visiting their stand at the Scottish Interior Design a couple of years ago, we decided to use Cotterel & Co to give us advice on lighting our new self catering lodges. We worked with Ruth from start to finish, and she did such a good job for us that we're handing over the lighting of our new guest-house to her! It's a huge job; lighting a huge, exposed oak frame is not going to be easy, but it's in good hands. We are completely confident that we will get just what we want and need for our new venture. The Loch Lomond Guesthouse and Lodges.
