Detail 9 were extremely efficient at organising the relevant building surveyors, engineering consultants and the like in order to bring our concept plans to tender stage. They assisted us with selecting our builder for the project and were a huge help in developing the Fixture and Fittings Schedule. As newbies to the renovation game, we appreciated the knowledge and experience Detail 9 brought to help us wade through all the finer points of a whole home renovation. We subsequently engaged them as our Contract Administrators for the duration of the project.

We were recommended Detail 9 Architects by our builders when we were seriously thinking about a renovation/extension at our house. We had an idea of what we wanted to create and Detail 9 were able to put our ideas on paper as well as give as their suggestions to then create a beautiful home for us. With their expertise we blended the old with the new. Our Edwardian home now has a beautiful extension and the older features at the front part of the house have now been enhanced to ensure an amazing flow as you walk throughout the house. I engaged Detail 9 to come up with some design concepts for a major renovation of my old and quite run-down 1880’s terrace house in North Fitzroy and being very happy with these concepts, I continued working with them all the way through the design and build process. Having a fairly open brief from myself of adding a second storey for another bedroom, getting more natural light and opening up the rear of the house (and even bringing the toilet inside - yes the house was that old!!), Rachel, Lyndell and the team at Detail 9 produced a wonderful design incorporating everything I wanted and more! They worked it through all the council and building permitting and everything in between and then finally, project managed a great build! Working with a small terrace house, on a small block and with the added heritage overlay restrictions has its unique challenges and the Detail 9 team dealt with them all seamlessly. Helping select and then project managing the builder also made my life much easier! Rachel, with her sound knowledge of the building trades, definitely came in handy and I knew I could trust her to make the correct decisions with my best interests at heart. The change in the house from pre-renovation to post renovation is incredible – a virtually new, light filled home with the living area opening out onto a lovely deck. The living spaces have really been maximised too by cleverly incorporating a huge amount of storage space. After my fantastic experience of working with Detail 9 throughout the whole renovation process, I’d highly recommend them if you are considering undertaking any new build or renovation. I’m sure, like me, you’ll be more than happy with the result!

They say renovating/building is one of the biggest stresses in life. However, with Detail 9 on our side, the major renovation and extension of our family home was relatively stress free. Rachel and Lyndell have been absolute champions! They understood that this was an emotional build for us, as we were renovating an inherited family home. They listened carefully to what we wanted, and understood our budget constraints. The final design is not only beautiful, but functional. We now have a gorgeous family home that we can proudly pass onto the next generation. Lacking both time and experience we also enlisted Detail 9 with putting our project out to tender and with managing the project. Both very wise decisions! Detail 9 project managed our whole renovation project. They supplied the drawings and plans, selected our Builder, provided a detailed shopping list of what items we needed to purchase and from where. We were 'reluctant' renovators - we absolutely needed to renovate but had no idea about how to make it all come together. Detail 9 were invaluable to us - without their expert support and 'gentle but firm' approach with us we would never have proceeded. The whole project was extremely challenging and confronting for us but we felt like they were holding our hand the whole way and we were fully supported and most of all that we could trust their judgement. I was able to talk through and discuss the various choices / decisions we were making and I loved that Rach had a strong opinion and wouldn't necessarily just agree with some of our choices eg. our initial benchtop choice. I felt that they were truly invested in our renovation project - and that they were offering suggestions and advice as if it was their house to ensure that we received the best possible result. In terms of our renovation result - we are truly ecstatic with our 'new house'! Couldn't be happier. Detail 9 Architects were very professional, responsive, practical and focused on our needs and budget. They took a tricky brief regarding a kitchen lacking space and came up with a functional layout with a great architectural feature. They were available as required and kept to deadlines and goals. Detail 9 designed and project managed a very large renovation to our existing 1950's weatherboard home. Our home went from a 3 bed 1 bath single storey dwelling to a two storey, 6 bed, 2 bath residence with a new kitchen, butler's pantry, family living room and outdoor entertaining area. From our very first meeting with them it was evident that, after much searching, we had finally found the architects we would be working with. They listened to all of our needs, made excellent suggestions and produced a beautiful result. They were professional, talented and extremely pleasurable to work with.
