Since starting my own practice in 1996, I've done single-family residences almost exclusively. I enjoy the personal involvement of my clients and the synergistic effects of collaboration. I feel engaged clients can also enjoy their homes better.
The best homes function well within, and compliment, their environments. Coming from an engineering background, I try to feature the structural and environmental systems of homes while making efficient use of them. Ultimately, I would like to promote well-designed, efficient housing having minimal impact on infrastructure and the environment.
Mid-century modern Eichler neighborhoods are the ultimate refinement of suburban living. Eichlers are reasonably-sized and fairly economical. Most were built near old, walk-able downtown areas in the Bay Area. Eichler managed to maximize an appreciation of the outdoors while also maintaining reasonable privacy, all on fairly small lot, using low-slung, ground-hugging designs with strategically placed walls of floor-to-ceiling glass. Remodeling Eichlers allows me to leverage modernist design for people who really appreciate it.
