We redid our entire kitchen including vaulting a ceiling and knocking down a wall, and we replaced 1600 sq ft of flooring too. Emily was a pleasure to work with - professional, respected our budget, and hit our design goals spot on. I have recommended her to several friends looking for design help and would definitely work with her again.

Working with Emily was amazing! She was so helpful in narrowing down our style and surprised us with seemingly knowing what we'd like better than we did! She even did an amazing job with our mix of "industrial & collected but simple & clean" style which is not her usual forte!
Can't wait to hire her again for our next project!

The contractor I wanted to hire told me that a full kitchen remodel like this one, would need a designer. "Okay," I said. "Give me three names, so I can call them and evaluate them."
"Nope," he said. "I'll give you one name: Emily Wignal."
I thought that was weird. But I had never done a kitchen remodel before, or used a designer. So okay! I called her and got three references, and then I called them.
They adored her. Planned to use her again. In fact, the references were so good, so glowing, that I found just them a little hard to believe. No one is that good, right?
We met, me and Emily. She explained what she did. She told me her job was to make sure the remodel went smoothly and to make sure I got a kitchen I loved. She was friendly and pleasant and I liked her right off.
But liking someone isn't enough. Especially someone in the role of kitchen designer. I know that, now.
I know a lot of things I didn't know then. What advice would I give someone who has never done a down-to-the-studs kitchen remodel for an 100-year-old house?
I'd tell you what Emily told me: it's going to be rough at times. Living in a house that doesn't have a kitchen is tricky business. You will lose your sense of humor.
I'd say: get a great designer. One who will help you understand the process and what to expect, be calm you when you're anything but, reassure you when you're freaking out, make certain that you don't make expensive or aesthetic mistakes, and go to bat with the contractor or subcontractor for you, when -- not if -- there are problems.
Ideally it should be someone you like spending time with, who can make you feel that the process of designing and constructing a new kitchen is full of beauty and magic.
I'd say this: if you can possibly get on her schedule, get Emily Wignal. She's the one you want.
I understand her references now. I'll be one of them.
I admit that I waited to write this review because I didn't want to share Emily with any new clients, not until my project was completely done.
But now that it's done, I'm happy to tell you how great she is.
Oh, and my kitchen is beautiful and full of magic.

I'd never worked with a designer before, and Emily was a delight! We needed help picking a cohesive paint scheme for our main floor (basically the public spaces in our home), and we had a modest budget for consultation. Emily knocked the it out of the park! She was efficient, listened well, came up with lovely palettes to choose from, and was generous with her advice on a couple of design considerations in the house that would be affected by the new colors in the space. And quite importantly for me, she was patient with all the questions I had and replied quickly. She referred two different painting contractors to us with good reviews, and we couldn't be happier with the one we picked. We're very happy with what feels like a new home now!

Emily is a miracle worker! She transformed a dark, sad, depressing retail space into a gorgeous, warm, fun and inviting oasis. She translated my vision perfectly into reality. I honestly was completely blown away by her talent. She has the perfect personality for this line of work, she is direct and open, fun and encouraging, realistic, smart and quick. She listens to your needs and wants and makes it work in your budget.
In large part because of her, my small business is off to an amazing start. I get compliments all day long from customers on how beautiful and warm the space is. THANK YOU EMILY!!

I have worked with Emily on multiple projects over a span of 4 years on 3 separate homes. She helped me decorate the first house, build a 2nd house, and remodel our current home. She is extremely professional and knowledgeable. She has helped me with things as small as rearranging furniture and styling a room, to helping me design a new home floor plan and every detail to go along with it. We worked from start to finish on that project, and she does a great job with both the big picture and the small details (floor plan, electrical, window placement, all the way down to cabinet hardware and paint colors). She is very practical and also has an excellent eye.
I am super picky and really care a lot about function, and she is great to troubleshoot with, and also has come up with a lot of innovative ideas that always help our space work better for us. She is super responsive and although I hate bugging her with last minute decisions, I have often found myself in the position that the contractor will need a decision stat, and she is great at getting back to me.
I have a difficult time making decisions, and Emily is great at either confirming what I am already thinking and giving me the confirmation to move ahead, or coming up with better alternatives. I love to work with her and can't recommend her highly enough. She provides such a valuable service!

We came to Emily after a year of trying to make our odd-shaped living/dining area work, and after we had wasted hundreds of dollars on furniture pieces that ended up not fitting or not looking right in the space.
When we met with Emily, she helped us translate our varied and random ideas into a concrete direction with a plan. She worked with us between emails and in person appointments, to narrow down our final selections to something we were happy with and that worked for the space.
Months later we still LOVE our living room. It's polished and still totally livable with a toddler, which is a hard balance to strike.
My only regret is that we didn't find her sooner before we wasted all that money on bad decisions. Her time and expertise were worth every penny and I'm sure saved us hundreds on future design mistakes. Whenever we get around to redoing our kitchen, we will certainly be giving Emily a call.

I had a very enjoyable experience working with Emily on my kitchen remodel project. She was able to take all my ideas (from pie-in-the-sky to tiny, unique details) and create a design plan that fit my aesthetic and budget. She was an amazing communicator throughout my project with not only me but my general contractor which I really appreciated. I grew to depend on her to help me make those final, on-the-spot decisions towards the end of the project when one is usually suffering from decision fatigue. (This WILL happen all newbie renovators!) Emily is a true professional who approaches design from a holistic point of view and her passion for creating inspired spaces for her clients shines throughout the entire process.

Emily did a terrific job helping us reorganize and redecorate our old house. She helped us figure out our functional needs and style preferences and come up with a plan that really works well for our family and is beautiful! I would highly recommend her - she's professional, responsive and very talented!

Emily was such a joy to work with. She was not only our designer, but also project manager. She was organized, took care of all the little details and issues with our contractors, and was always flexible with our schedule. She took a kitchen that was sad and dated, and turned it into the gorgeous, comfortable center of our home. He ability to balance my expectations with our budget was masterful. I will always recommend Emily to anyone who wants to fall back in love with their home.

Emily helped us redesign our 60's style bathroom. It involved a complete tear-down and rearranging of bathroom components. She was innovative in redesigning the space to make it work for our family's needs. Her floor plan maximized the space and made it both functional and beautiful! If I didn't have "before" pictures, I don't think people would believe how bad it looked! Emily was conscious of our budget and only recommended items that worked within it. She always gave us several options and gave us confidence when making design decisions. Her sense of color, light, and space are beautiful! Emily was also fun to work with! She was always professional but also enthusiastic. She shared in our excitement in remodeling the bathroom and always wanted to hear updates. She helped transform our dingy, dated bathroom into a modern, light-filled space! I would highly recommend her to anyone and everyone!

Emily has been a fantastic designer for our home. With just a little bit of information about each child’s interests, she provided three of our children with their dream rooms. Emily’s creative ideas included finding headboards, canopies, wall art, and just the right lamp (dinosaur with red stripes, of course!) so that each bedroom really reflected the individual child’s personality. Emily also developed an updated design for our hitherto bland living room. She helped us figure out our style, reconcile sometimes conflicting design aesthetics between husband and wife, and find wall art and other decorative items that reflect our interests. Along the way, Emily provided multiple options at differing price points so that we could find a design that fit within our budget. In the end, we feel that we received a truly unique living room (Emily blended pieces together from half a dozen different stores) that showcases our personal style and interests.
Emily is extremely pleasant to work with. She spent the time to understand our style aesthetic and to find pieces that worked for us. I also felt that her price was very reasonable and that she used all budgeted time very efficiently. I can’t wait to get started on our next project together!
