Heather Vaughan Design

Don't look any further in the Boston area for a design professional. I initially contacted Heather Vaughan as I found her portfolio of completed design jobs so eclectic. Her rooms range from elegant Hollywood glamorous, beach house casual, to funky vibrant. To me this showed her ability to listen to the client and to be inspired by their vision. I was right! In addition, Heather was always reachable, reliably on time and responds very quickly to any question. Although my job was small, Heather made me feel like a valuable and important client. I will recommend her to friends and family and call Heather again when we move house.

Heather has been fabulous to work with. We are just getting started with my house and she has been able to break down and set expectations for each project to make it feel less overwhelming but still extremely exciting. She also works within your timeline for specific needs and budget. My favorite part has been the unexpected choices I have made on rugs and fabrics as that is exactly why I wanted to hire a professional - to bring out my own style in unique, but timeless ways and Heather executes this perfectly.

I have LOVED working with Heather! She has converted my small city condo from a tired, poorly-built mishmash into an elegant and functional living space while still managing to inject the sense of art and whimsy I craved. Classy AND funky! I wanted a home that would look beautiful but not out of a catalog, that would look luxurious but didn't make you afraid to put your feet up, that would be colorful without making you blind or dizzy. She not only met all of those expectations but has exceeded them. Even if I could have imagined what my home would become before we began -- which I couldn't -- I wouldn't have known how to bring that vision to fruition. Heather's creativity and experience made it all extremely doable. Throughout the project she has exhibited professionalism with a high standard of excellence for her own work as well as the contractors and vendors she refers. She has been a great project manager cracking the whip with contractors and following up with fabricators/craftsmen so everything comes together. I have also enjoyed her willingness to work collaboratively with me -- 'cause I am an admitted control freak when it comes to my home -- and I feel truly fortunate to have found her. I wouldn't recommend hiring a designer the way I did (I liked her portfolio here on Houzz and hired her without even checking a reference) but DO hire Heather! Here's the scope of the project: bathroom gutted and redone; absolutely everything (other than toilet and light fixtures) custom made for the space; some kitchen cabinets repainted, everything else replaced with custom work; new coat closet and large built-in where none existed before; repainted existing table and chairs; new custom furniture throughout living room (included incorporating silk I dyed into one of the pieces (What?! Who would think to do that? Or know how?!); converted guest bedroom into art studio including multiple built-ins and accommodating for open flames and ventilation; new window treatments throughout; new and expanded back deck; and an amazing accent wall in the master bedroom inspired by Heather, hand-painted mostly by me with colors selected and blended by her, which...much to both of our surprise...is "beyond Beyond!" And this is really just a partial list. We've touched almost every surface in the house. This project isn't quite finished yet but we're getting close. As anxious as I am to get these contractors (and the dust!) out of my house, I'm a little sad this project is coming to an end. It's really been a great experience.

We have the highest praise for Heather Vaughan Design. We originally asked Heather to help us redesign our living/dining room in our Boston condo. We are amazed at how beautifully our living/dining room has been transformed to become even better than we imagined. As a result of that terrific outcome, we plan to continue working with Heather Vaughan Design on the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms. From the first meeting with Heather, we knew she would be a great match for us. She listened well and offered creative, innovative ideas that reflected her excellent understanding of space, color, and texture. Heather is enthusiastic, professional, and practical and her wonderful sense of humor has made the decision making process especially enjoyable. We are very appreciative of Heather and her colleague Monica for their immediate responsiveness to any difficulties that can come up with vendors, and their taking responsibility to make sure we are happy with everything. Heather has also been very flexible and understanding throughout the design process. Right before the scheduled work was to begin, we had to put the project on hold for several months due to my needing emergency surgery and a long recovery. Despite this, Heather managed to reschedule everything seamlessly. We are so pleased that we found Heather Vaughan Design (via Houzz!) and are enthusiastically anticipating our continued work together.

I have been doing work for Heather Vaughan Design for a while now. She and her associates are very knowledgeable and easy to work with. The projects we work on together are very well designed and they are always looking to get the best product for their clients. I would recommend them highly.

We are so thrilled to continue our work with Heather Vaughan Design, as we finish our mudroom, redesign our family room and update virtually all areas of our home. She has truly made this experience so exciting and enjoyable!

Heather and her team are consummate professionals. They approach each new project with the utmost attention to detail to ensure their client's goals are achieved in the finished space.
