On September 3, 2019, Icon Stone & Tile Inc. (the “Company”), filed an assignment in bankruptcy pursuant to section 49 of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, R.S.C. 1985, c. B-3, as amended (the “BIA”) whereby Grant Thornton Limited (“GTL”) was appointed as the trustee in bankruptcy (in such capacities, the “Trustee”) over the estate of the Company and these bankruptcy proceedings (the “Bankruptcy Proceedings”). A copy of the Certificate of Appointment issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy on September 3, 2019 appointing the Trustee is available on the Trustee’s case website: www.GrantThornton.ca/IconStone (the “Case Website”). Creditors and other stakeholders are encouraged to continue to monitor the Trustee’s Case Website for further updates concerning the Trustee’s activities. We recently did some updates to our house, one of them being new marble facing on our fireplace. ICON helped us along every step of the process from purchasing the marble slab on our behalf to fabrication and then installation. We cannot say enough about the Sales Associate that we worked with, she is so personable and helpful! The installation team was awesome and spent the time required to fit the marble perfectly!

No question the product they sold us is beautiful. They also had many wonderful selections to chose from. However, we were heartbroken to hear that after spending our hard earned money to upgrade to a countertop we thought would have no seam, we ended up with a seam. They also miss lead us on the product we purchased. We thought we were buying granite and have many emails referring to the product we bought as being granite. It turns out they sold us a quartz counter top instead. They company did nothing to address our concerns or to help resolve the problem. We were met with your counters are "industry standard." Wishing other Alberta buyers an above industry standard product and a wonderful supportive costumer care experience.

Hi Denika,

We are sorry to hear that you did not have a great experience with Icon. When you were in the showroom, we were very transparent that the product was quartz. You referred to the product as granite in the emails and we did not correct you. We admit that was our error and should have taken the time to correct you.

As for the seam, the slabs are maximum 116” and your island is almost 123”.
With the shape of your island and the dimensions, it’s impossible to do it without a seam because the slabs are too small. Seams are to be expected on any island measuring 108” x 52” or bigger. Overall, seams are not a problem and are acceptable as an industry standard.

When it’s necessary to do a seam, we do everything in our power to make it perfect, as we did for your project. We took extra care to make sure the seam was not in a wet or steam heavy area. You did sign papers to confirm your different choices. You also signed a term and conditions sheet that spoke about that the seam placement is determined by Icon once templates have been made.

Customer service is incredibly important to us and we want to apologize again for your unsatisfactory experience. We are not free of fault and will use this review to become better for our future projects!

The men who installed my quartz countertops were very efficient and competent in all aspects. I was disappointed that they didn't save my sink cut out from the Quartz, and that they didn't follow thru with a maintenance inspection when I thought the Quartz was a bit rough.
